Employee Spotlight: James Richardson

1. What initially attracted you to Jellyfish, and what motivated you to join the Security Team?

Honestly, it was the people and mission. I was drawn to Jellyfish because of the mission to bring visibility and insights to software engineering and also get to work with talented and kind people. I joined the Security Team because I saw an opportunity to build a program and security culture that laid the foundation of customer trust alongside a world class CISO.

2. Can you share a memorable experience/project that highlights why you enjoy working here?

My favorite experience has been collaborating on our AI strategy. We’ve worked side-by-side with Engineering, Research, Product and many more teams to define how we can leverage AI for internal employee efficiency and within the Jellyfish platform itself. We’ve built the guardrails that allow our teams to innovate rapidly without compromising the data security and privacy our customers trust us with.

3. How does Jellyfish encourage innovation and creativity in your role, and how does that make your work more fun?

At Jellyfish, the security team mission is to help people do their jobs in a secure manner. Brainstorming and finding solutions with individuals to overcome security, privacy and compliance challenges in creative ways to minimize risk without slowing down the business has been the most fun and rewarding aspect.

4. What do you think sets Jellyfish apart from others in the Tech industry?

Leadership. Jellyfish leadership is incredibly experienced and transparent about business decisions, whether things are going well or we’re facing a challenge. It allows the company to maintain alignment and work toward a common goal and execute on our mission.

5. If you had to sum up why you like working at Jellyfish in one sentence, what would it be?

I love working at Jellyfish because I get to solve complex security, privacy and compliance challenges that drive business outcomes alongside brilliant and hard working people who genuinely care about our customers’ trust and doing the right thing.
